Five law enforcement agencies conducted drug raids across Wyoming County on Monday.
Two dozen people had been arrested as of early Monday evening,. Sheriff Randall Aliff said there were a few warrants still outstanding.
"We had a total of 90 felony warrants on these people," Aliff commented.
The arrests, which began at 6 a.m., were a product of a one-year investigation conducted by the Southern West Virginia Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, he said.
In addition to the Task Force, the Sheriff's Department, U.S. Marshals Service, West Virginia State Police and Oceana Police Department made the arrests.
"These drug investigations are continuing in Wyoming County," Aliff remarked. "It's an ongoing thing that we do."
Wyoming County Prosecutor W. Richard "Rick" Staton said at least five of the 28 people named in the warrants could be eligible to have an existing bond revoked.
"We have filed those petitions today," he stated, "and will file ore if eligible cases are found.
"Drug cases are a priority prosecution for my office," Staton said. "The swift actions today help reinforce the message that if drug dealers come into our neighborhoods to sell drugs, we will go into their neighborhoods to arrest and prosecute them."
