High school football season kicks off across West Virginia tonight, and both of Wyoming County’s teams will be in action.

Wyoming East plays host to Mingo Central. The Warriors, after going 5-5 last season and narrowly missing the playoffs, have their eyes on the post-season.

Central opened its doors last year and beat East in its first game ever in its brand new stadium. The Miners were also 5-5 and just missed the playoffs.

Westside visit Liberty (Raleigh) at Glen Daniel tonight.

Renegade running backs Justin and Dustin Tilley and Thomas Forren have graduated, but WHS has plenty of returning talent.

Westside was 9-2 last year and lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Liberty also returns a lot of players and is looking to improve from last year’s 4-6 season.

Both game start at 7:30 p.m.
