ITMANN — Velva Jane “Janie” Griffith Browning, 71, of Itmann, passed over Jordan to meet her Savior after a long illness, on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Born April 12, 1941 at Glen Rogers, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Maxie Hammond Griffith. Services were held noon, Friday, June 22, 2012 at Mullens Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Lewis Arnold officiating. The family of Velva Jane Browning is being cared for by Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens.

Evangeline Griffith Lambert

OCEANA — Evangeline Griffith Lambert, 84, of Oceana, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 15, 2012, in Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness. Born July 8, 1927, at Oceana, she was the daughter of the late Kenner Creed “K.C.” Griffith and Lillie Mae Francis Griffith. A celebration of Evangeline’s life was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with Bishop Randy Bowles and the Rev. Erwin Gregory officiating. Evans Funeral Home of Oceana is serving the Lambert family.
