The filing period is under way for candidates who want to run for office in the 2012 primary. Several Democratic incumbents were among those who filed on Monday. Sheriff: Randall Aliff. Magistrate: J.R. Boles, Kim Roach Farmer and Craig Cook. Assessor: Mike E. Cook is seeking a second term. County Commission: Silas Mullins seeks a second term. Board of Education:Perry E. Cook and Michael Prichard. Richard Browning is running for a second term as a state senator from the ninth district. Linda Goode Phillips is running for a third term in what is now the 25th District. Wyoming County native Darrell McGraw is seeking another term as the state attorney general. The first presidential candidate to file was Republican Mitt Romney. Others who have filed in statewide races include Natalie Tennant for secretary of state, John Perdue for treasurer and Glen B. Gainer, III, for auditor. Filing ends on Jan. 28.
