High school football kicks into high gear tonight as the regular season opens for both Westside and Wyoming East. Westside's Renegades are at home against the Liberty Raiders. The Renegades are led by the running back trio of Dustin Tilley, Justin Tilley and Thomas Forren. All three ran for 750 yards or more last season. WHS hopes to improve on its 6-3-1 mark last season and return to the playoffs. East visits the region's newest consoldiated school, Mingo Central, at the latter's $5 million stadium. The Miners are made up of Gilbert, Matewan, Burch and Williamson. The West Virginia University Band will be performing at halftime. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
