“This team far exceeded my expectations,” said East track coach Terri Blake. “Last year we qualified in three events (4 x 800, boys disc, high jump). this year we qualified in six boys events and one girls event.

“We have had a great year working toward the ultimate goal,” she commented. “Last year, Jacob Harris narrowly missed qualifying in the 400 meter dash and this year qualified not only in the 400 but the 800 individual events.”

The boys team, she noted, “has truly exemplified the qualities necessary to move on to the next level of competition. Dedicati, perseverance, great work ethic.

“They are constantly looking for opportunities to improve perfomance,” Blake added.

The state meet will be held this Friday and Saturday in Charleston.
