The top seeds rolled to easy wins in the Class AA, Region 3 Section 1 tourney at Westside on Monday night.
Jazz Blankenship scored 30 points and Wyoming East hit 10 threes as the No. 1 seed Lady Warriors thumped No. 4 seed Oak Hill, 85-23.
“I thought we played good defense at times,” said East coach Angie Boninsegna.
The Warriors had a 47-7 lead at the half. Blankenship hit three treys and a two to start the third quarter to make it 58-7.
“No matter what the score is, you have to play defense and rebound,” Boninsegna commented. “You have to stay focused.”
Kelsey Green scored 12 for the winners, and Katie Daniels had 11.
East is now 18-5.
In the early game, No. 2 seed Westside cruised past No. 3 Independence, 68-20, to reach the finals.
The Lady Renegades (17-6) had a 41-7 advantage at the half and beat the Patriots for the third time this season.
Hannah Toler scored 19 to lead WHS, and Morgan Thomas had 15 points and 13 boards.
Brooke Russell and Ryana Kenneda had 10 each.
Madyson Deck tallied 11 for Indy.
“We want to do the things we do well and get better at the things we need to get better at,” said Renegades coach Jamie Lusk.
East and Westside have both qualified for regionals. They play for the sectional title on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Westside.
