WHS girls have 1-1 week

Class AA No 6/7 Westside split a pair of games last week in girls hoops.

Nicholas 48, WHS 45

Anna Hamilton had 20 points and 15 boards as Nicholas County nipped Westside, 48-45, in a top ten showdown at Summersville last Saturday afternoon.

The game was postponed from an earlier date due to snow.

Emily Parker had 15 for the Grizzlies, who improved to 14-4.

Brooke Russell paced the Renegades with 13 markers. Hannah Toler and Makayla Morgan added eight each.

The teams were tied, 11-11, after one quarter. The Grizzlies held a 26-21 edge at the half.

WHS outscored Nicholas, 17-12, in the third period to tie the game at 38-38.

Westside edged Nicholas, 57-56, in an earlier meeting.

WHS is 13-4 and will host Wyoming East this Thursday in the second meeting of the county rivals this seaso.

Earlier in the week, the Renegades drubbed Independence, 80-38, at Clear Fork.
