BOE to seek $1 million for new Huff
The Wyoming County Board of Education will be seeking an additional $1 million for the new Huff Consolidated School at next Monday’s School Building Authority meeting. BOE approves new online grading software
The Wyoming County Board of Education approved a new online grade book and messaging system at Monday’s meeting, and board members say a deadline will be set to make sure all schools are using it. Live Grades, the new software, will replace edline. City Net, a West Virgnia-based company, makes it available free to state schools. BOE to meet Tuesday morning
The Wyoming County Board of Education will next meet on April 16. A proposed Athletic Code of Conduct policy and updates on the new Pineville Elementary School and Huff Consolidated are among the agenda items. Mullens Elementary School’s Local School Improvement Council will be making a presentation also. A statuatory on entering levy rates is slated for 10 a.m. The regular meeting will convene at 10:10 a.m.

Mingo County Sheriff, Eugene Crum, was shot at point blank range while sitting in his official vehicle. The alleged shooter was apprehended in Delbarton. A full investigation is underway to uncover the reasons behind the slaying of Sheriff Crum and bring others to justice if more than one person was involved.</p><p>Rusty Martin, the brother-in-law of Mingo County Sheriff Crum had to be treated by EMS officials after he almost collapsed after receiving the news of the the sheriff&#8217;s death Wednesday afternoon. Brenton woman charged with forgery
A Brenton woman who allegedly cashed over $5,000 in stolen checks has been charged with forgery. Ina New, 49, was a care giver for Juanita Haught of Brenton, according to Sgt. Brad Ellison of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department. Ellison said New is accused of stealing 25 checks between Feb. 1 and March 13. “The total she has taken out from that is over $5,000,” Ellison stated. Two people have been arrested in connection with a nighttime burglary in Mullens.
