Warriors hold off Renegades
by John Conley

Westside had the big start, but Wyoming East had the big finish.

The Warriors trailed by as much as 13 in the first half, but worked their way back into the game by halftime and went on top the Renegades, 67-57, on Friday night at Clear Fork.

An overflow crowd saw WHS use its press and transition offense to race to a 16-3 margin.

The Renegades, who hit four threes in the opening period, were up 23-15 after one quarter.

East started to turn the tide in the second stanza. Brett Bowling and John Morgan knocked down treys late in the half as the Warriors trimmed the margin to 27-26 by the break.

An 11-0 third quarter run put East on top for good, 41-34.

Westside got within 45-43 early in the fourth, but the Warriors scored nine of the next ten points to push the lead to double digits.

Cody Lester had nine fourth quarter for East, including 5-6 shooting at the line down the stretch.

Bowling scored 19, and Austin Canada had 16 for the Warriors (6-1). Josh Tunstalle added 10.

Cory Bowles had 21 for the Renegades. Levi Lambert tallied 16, and Justin Cogar had 14.
