The museum will open to the public at noon, and cake and punch will be offered to visitors.

The Wyoming County Historical Museum in Oceana will be celebrating West Virginia Day on Thursday.
The museum will open to the public at noon, and cake and punch will be offered to visitors.
A ceremony begins at 1 p.m.
County Commissioner Silas Mullins will give the invocation. Betsy Ross, chair of the organizing committee for the celebration, will welcome those in attendance.
Jim Cook, a member of the museum board and an Oceana council member, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Epp Cline, president of the museum board, will give introductory remarks.
Del. Linda Goode Phillips will talk about Wyoming County and the future.
Ross will announce the winners of the essay contest. Winners were selected from students in high schools, middle schools and elementary schools.
The museum has a display of items to be placed in a time capsule.
These items include photos, letters from Congressman Nick Joe Rahall, from Phillips and from school children.
Burial of the time capsule may take place at a future date, Ross explained, as discussion continues about the best location for it.
The time capsule will be opened in 50 years.
Little League baseball all-star tournaments will be starting soon.
The 7-8 year-old Coach Pitch event gets under way this Saturday at Chapmanville.
Mullens will host the 9-10 year-old all-stars beginning June 29 at Charles Jones Field.
The 11-12 year-old tournament starts July 6 at Madison.
Wyoming County teams compete in district play with teams from McDowell, Logan, Mingo and Boone counties.
