Arson is suspected in a fire at Long Branch last Tuesday night.

Chief Deputy Jimmy White of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department said a blaze at Morgan Sanitation’s business office was reported at 10:40 p.m.

“We have a suspect,” White said.

He said charges of burglary, arson and transfer of stolen property are pending against Michael Cline of Hanover.

White reported that the charges are pending because Cline was hospitalized after being shot in the leg at the scene of the fire. The shooting followed a dispute.

Ethan Stapleton, 20, of Long Branch was charged with malicious wounding in connection with the shooting.

White said Stapleton had been released on $15,000 bond.

A Feb. 3 fire at Morgan Sanitation is also under investigation.

The arson case is being investigated by Todd Hamrick of the Fire Marshal’s office.

Sgt. Scott Cook of the Sheriff’s Department is investigating the burglary.
