Projects ranging from anthropology to economics were featured at the second annual Wyoming County Social Studies Fair.

The fair was held last Thursday at Pineville Elementary School.

Deborah Hall, director of federal and learning enrichment programs, called the fair “a great experience for the students.”

She said it allows students “to investigate a topic on social science issues that interests them and then demonstrate what they know.

“Participating in the fair challenges a student to be inventive, think creatively and provide relevance,” she commented.

Hall described this year’s fair as “exceptional, with well thought out projects. The judges had a difficult, but enjoyable time picking the winners.”

First place winners will move on to regional competition at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center on March 4.
